You know how some girls dream about their future wedding day and dress? I'm not one of those girls. Because I had neither a wedding dress nor a wedding day.
I'm the girl who dreamed about having a craft room when she grows up. And sometimes dreams come true.
Let's rewind. About 18 months ago, my husband and I decided to leave Chicago. We went to California and found it not quite right for us, so we moved to this incredibly awesome and not so well known city called Spokane, Washington. About 7,162 decisions and twists and turns from then to now, but, long story short, now I have a craft studio in a house we own and live in that was built in 1930. Funny how things turn out. And...
Pot Belly Bird is back in business! Yes that's right. Click on over to that "Shop" page to check out my brand-spanking-new designs. Check out my Facebook page. And follow along on my blog as I share with you my latest adventures in home improvement, craftiness, and dog ownership (yep, we got a puppy!).
Anyways, back to this craft studio. The heart of the entire room is this amazing, fantastic, absolutely incredible custom table that was created for me by the custom furniture master craftsman at Relics, a vintage store in Spokane Valley, WA. We designed the table together. . . I wanted a table I could sit or stand at with TONS of space (the tabletop is 4 feet by 5 feet!) and he suggested repurposing these two vintage dressers as the table base. And voila! Storage galore among all the drawers and shelves, and I have space for multiple projects at once on the enormous table top.
Then, to tackle the boring blank wall that was taking up half the studio, my mom and I spent an afternoon creating 'useful artwork': I needed a place to store my card designs for easy reference, and these bulletin boards add the punch of color needed to spruce up the boring white wall.
Oh, and if life hasn't been crazy enough lately, we got a puppy. The newest love of our lives is named Divvy. You'll be hearing about her a lot from now on.
Hi! I'm the creator of Pot Belly Bird, hailing from Spokane, WA. Here in my blog, I'll tell you about all the fun stuff I'm up to in addition to making cards, like cooking or biking or gardening!
